The Breakout Drug Education Program curriculum is designed to engage the students through the use of visual aids, role-play, and group work. Over 5 sessions - four consecutive sessions and a follow-up session - the program teaches students about the health risks associated with alcohol and other drug use, helps them to understand the social pressure that influences substance abuse decisions; how to resist pressures to use alcohol and other drugs; and how to make healthy choices. As the students progress through middle and high school, the curriculum changes to a two day format and targets critical issues appropriate for their age.
